CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (AP) - A former Virginia FFA Foundation treasurer faces charges of embezzling about $700,000 from the organization.
Montgomery County Commonwealth's Attorney Mary Pettitt tells The Roanoke Times that 41-year-old Eugene Todd Mills is charged with nine embezzlement counts.
Mills served as the foundation's volunteer treasurer until around June 1, 2012.
His lawyer, Fred Kellerman, says he can't comment on the case.
The foundation's board of directors says it doesn't expect any FFA sponsored activities or award programs to be disrupted. It declined to comment on the investigation or the allegations.
