Sawed-off shot gun used in hotel robbery

WASHINGTON – Montgomery County police have arrested a Silver Spring man on charges that he robbed eight people with a sawed-off shotgun at a hotel Friday night.

Police say Jackson Julius, 18, of the 3600 block of Bel Pre Road, was arrested shortly after the robbery. He faces multiple armed robbery charges and firearm offenses.

He was being held in lieu of $150,000 bail and is scheduled for a bond review hearing Monday afternoon.

Police say Julius interrupted a a party in one of the rooms at the Homewood Suites Hotel, 8728 Colesville Road. The host opened the door to Julius believing he was another guest.

Instead, Julius pulled out the sawed-off shotgun and robbed the guests of cash, personal items, phones and other electronics, placing the items in a duffle bag before leaving the hotel.

Police tracked the robber to a Ride On bus and found Julius sitting on the bus with a duffle bag. While police questioned Julius, officers found a sawed-off shotgun and the guests’ stolen property inside the duffle, police say.
