CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - The independent student newspaper at the University of Virginia is moving from a daily to a twice-a-week print schedule.
The Daily Progress says The Cavalier Daily is shifting from a traditional daily newspaper to a "digital-first newsroom" offering online and mobile content. The change begins in August.
Digital offerings are slated to include mobile and tablet apps, plus a daily e-newsletter.
The newspaper's managing editor, Kaz Komolafe, says the change reflects contemporary journalism's increasing move from print to digital.
The paper dates from 1890.
