Celebrating 25 Years of Dance with the International Association of Blacks in Dance

WASHINGTON – The International Association of Blacks in Dance (IABD) is holding its 25th Silver Anniversary International Showcase and its Emerging and Established Artist Performance Showcase in D.C. this weekend, Jan. 24-26.

The association, which serves as the international service organization for dancers of color, will host five dance showcases in the local area, including performances at The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, The Howard Theatre, Duke Ellington School of the Arts, Howard University’s Cramton Auditorium and the Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel.

Saturday night’s event, “For One Night Only,” will display the talents of some of the best black dance companies from around the world, on one stage.

The performance will include pieces from Alvin Ailey, Camille A. Brown & Dancers, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, Dallas Black Dance, Dance Theatre of Harlem, Forces of Nature, Lula Washington Dance Theatre, Philadelphia Dance Company, Ronald K. Brown/Evidence and A Dance Company.

The event will start at 8 p.m. and will take place at Howard University’s Cramton Auditorium. Ticket information is available online
