RICHMOND, Va. - Reimbursements are being made available to Virginia families who care for a loved one with disabilities or chronic conditions.

The funds are being made available under a new limited voucher program from the state Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services.

Officials say that, beginning Tuesday, caregivers can apply to receive up to $400 reimbursement for costs related to respite care.

The Lifespan Respite Voucher Program will distribute vouchers from a $179,000 federal grant that closes by the end of July.

The department says about 450 families could be helped by the program.

More information is available at the department's website, http://www.vadars.org.
