ROANOKE, Va. - A former Virginia Tech employee has been sentenced to six months in jail for assaulting a supervisor at the university's power plant.
The Roanoke Times ( http://bit.ly/TvUlC2) reports 49-year-old DeWayne Edward Wilburn was sentenced after being convicted Thursday of a reduced charge of misdemeanor assault and battery.
A Montgomery County General District Court judge also banned Wilburn from all Virginia Tech properties and ordered him to stay away from the victim, Ted Allen Acord.
The scuffle occurred in December. Acord, the power plant operations manager, was treated at a hospital for his injuries.
