ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Diners in downtown Annapolis will soon have more burrito options.
The Capital of Annapolis reports that Chipotle Mexican Grill has won a fight with another burrito restaurant and will open a restaurant on Market Space.
Chipotle's request to open the restaurant was unanimously approved Thursday night by the city's Board of Appeals.
The location is not far from Moe's Southwest Grill, a similar business. An attorney for Moe's argued that Chipotle is a fast-food eatery and not a standard restaurant. Fast food isn't allowed in the Annapolis historic district without a special exception.
Chipotle attorney Alan Hyatt says the case was about a competitor that didn't want to see the popular chain come to town.
