Man arrested after standoff at Md. senior complex

BALTIMORE (AP) - Police in Baltimore have a person in custody after a standoff at a senior complex during which the suspect confronted them with a makeshift blowtorch.

City police were called to the Kirkwood House Senior Apartments on Loch Raven Boulevard on Friday around 8:30 p.m. Neighbors reported an attempted burglary.

Police officers responding to the call were confronted by a man with a makeshift blowtorch who allegedly tried to burn officers with the weapon. The man then barricaded himself alone inside an apartment building, and firefighters were called.

Police took the suspect into custody around 11 p.m. Police identified him as 45-year-old Sean Lee of Baltimore. Lee has been charged with arson, assault and malicious destruction of property.
