RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Consumer complaints about tow truck operators are now being handled by the Virginia Attorney General's Office.
Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli said Thursday that the Virginia Board of Towing and Recovery Operators has disbanded, and its complaint resolution authority has been handed over to his office. Licensing of tow truck drivers has been transferred to the Department of Criminal Justice Services.
The changes are part of Gov. Bob McDonnell's government reform initiative, which the General Assembly approved last year.
Consumers who want to file a complaint against a tow truck operator can call 800- 552-9963 or 804-786-2042.
