LYNCHBURG, Va. - A Crewe woman will spend six months in prison for bankruptcy fraud.
Sally Marie Jones was sentenced Thursday in U.S. District Court in Lynchburg.
The 56-year-old Jones pleaded guilty in September to one bankruptcy fraud count.
Federal prosecutors say Jones filed for bankruptcy twice in the Eastern District of Virginia between June 18, 2008, and June 8, 2009. She listed a different Social Security number and address in each filing.
She used a false Social Security number and address to file for bankruptcy again on Dec. 14, 2009. The third filing came despite a judge's order in July 2009 that banned her from filing for bankruptcy for two years in any federal bankruptcy court.
