WASHINGTON - A Catholic priest has turned himself in to police after allegedly sexually assaulting an adult male at his parish.
Father Luis Fernando Franco Henao, 40, has been charged with sexual battery.
The incident took place on Feb. 2 at St. Bernadette Parish in Springfield, Va. where Henao was a visiting priest from the Diocese of Málaga-Soatá in Colombia.
Authorities say the victim approached Henao while seeking "support and guidance" from the priest, but was instead touched inappropriately. He didn't report it to police until Nov. 30.
Henao turned himself in Wednesday and was immediately removed from his ministry, says the Diocese of Arlington. He has been at St. Bernadette since 2010.
