Police: Pedestrian in fatal crash 'not visible'

Friday - 12/14/2012, 1:21pm  ET

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Police reports say a pedestrian who was struck and killed by a fire truck in Lexington was "not visible" at the time of the crash.

The Lexington Herald-Leader ( http://bit.ly/VFqjGr) cited the documents it obtained on Thursday through an open records request in reporting that pedestrian Lauren Roady had a "walk" signal and was in the crosswalk when she was hit. However, the report said it was 10:04 p.m. and raining when the accident happened and Roady, who was 5-foot-3 and 120 pounds, had on dark clothing when she was hit.

Police say the 27-year-old Roady, of Washington, D.C., died shortly after being struck Saturday. She was in town for a running competition.

Police say charges are unlikely to be filed against the driver of the truck.
