Capitol police officer hit by car in northeast D.C.

WASHINGTON - A U.S. Capitol Police officer has been released from the hospital after being struck by a vehicle.
A U.S. Capitol Police spokesman says the officer was struck Thursday night during a traffic stop in the 100 block of Massachusetts Avenue NE. The vehicle stayed on the scene and the officer, Sgt. Jamie Brierly, was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
