McLEAN, Va. - Communications and satellite company Intelsat is planning to relocate its U.S. headquarters from Washington, D.C., to northern Virginia.
At a news conference on Monday, Gov. Bob McDonnell said the company will move at least 430 employees to Virginia when it relocates in mid-2014.
Intelsat plans to lease about 188,000 square feet of space in Tysons Tower, a 20- story office building in Fairfax County.
In a news release, state Secretary of Commerce and Trade Jim Cheng said Virginia has the highest percentage of high-technology workers in the country and ranks fourth in total high-technology employment.
McDonnell approved a $1.3 million grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund for the project.
