MAURERTOWN, Va. (AP) - An unused county-owned farm property in Shenandoah County could become a working farm again.
County officials want to lease the 150-acre Shenandoah County Farm property. Three proposals from farmers are being reviewed.
County administrator Doug Walker tells The Daily News-Record that the goal is to not only use the farm, but to demonstrate to landowners that renting property for farming is a viable option.
The farm also will be used to demonstrate sustainable farm management, such as rotational grazing of livestock.
