WASHINGTON (AP) - District of Columbia election officials estimate more than 52,000 residents voted early for this year's election.
They say that's more than 10 percent of the district's registered voters. And election officials say that is more than double the number of early voters in the September 2010 primary, when early voting was first allowed for any reason.
The Washington Post reports voters had to wait in long lines at some early voting locations on Saturday. Voters at some locations reported waits of two hours or more.
