Colonial Williamsburg to open following storm

Wednesday - 10/31/2012, 3:30am  ET

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) - Colonial Williamsburg is returning to normal operations following closures during superstorm Sandy.

The historic area is set to reopen on Wednesday after being closed since Monday ahead of the storm. It remained closed Tuesday as the area's operations team assessed storm damage and managed clean-up efforts.

Officials say there are no reports of damage at Colonial Williamsburg and debris appears to be limited to leaves that were blown off trees.

The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation operates and maintains the preserved 18th century site as an educational and tourist venue.
