Counties consider curbing roadside solicitations

WASHINGTON – A chance to give to charity or a distraction when drivers are behind the wheel?

Some jurisdictions in the D.C. area are weighing that question as they try to curb roadside solicitation.

Montgomery County has suggested requiring permits for roadside solicitation. Loudoun County is discussing a ban on all roadside solicitation.

Loudoun is also floating an idea that would let firefighters hold their “Fill A Boot” drive at shopping centers instead of stoplights.
