RICHMOND, Va. - The cruise ship Yorktown will make its first stop in Richmond this week.
The city announced Monday that the Yorktown will anchor at the Intermediate Terminal along the James River on Friday. Passengers will disembark and spend the day visiting historic sites. The ship will make another stop on Nov. 1.
City crews installed six dock bumpers and two additional mooring cleats at the Intermediate Terminal to prepare for the Yorktown's arrival. Additional dock improvements are planned.
The 256-foot-long Yorktown travels along the East Coast. It has a 40-member crew and can carry up to 140 passengers. The weeklong cruises are offered by New York- based Travel Dynamics International.
