TAZEWELL, Va. - "No smoking" signs are going up in a town park in Tazewell.
Tazewell Town Council has banned smoking in Lincolnshire Park.
Town manager Todd Day tells The Bluefield Daily Telegraph ( http://bit.ly/WPazEC) that the ban approved unanimously last week came in response to complaints from residents.
Day says town officials also wanted to make the park more family friendly.
Day and Tazewell County administrator Jim Spencer say they're not aware of any other smoking bans in parks in the county.
Tazewell resident Ed Killen calls the ban "absolutely silly." He says he could see banning smoking in the ball fields' stands and dugouts, but not in open spaces and picnic shelters.
