Va. man recovering after glider crashes on takeoff

Sunday - 10/21/2012, 12:37pm  ET

ROSELAND, Va. - Virginia State Police are investigating a glider crash in Nelson County that injured the pilot.

State Police say 46-year-old Presley W. Moore of Staunton suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The glider was being towed for takeoff by a single-engine Piper airplane when it crashed Saturday afternoon in a field along Route 151 in the Roseland community.

State police say the Genesis 2 glider caught its wing on the ground and overturned as the pilot tried to align the aircraft with the Piper.
