Md. man pleads guilty to DUI in fatal crash

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - A driver who struck and killed a stranded motorist has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence.
Thirty-year-old Jose Jesus Garcia-Salmoran of Annapolis entered the plea Tuesday in Anne Arundel County Circuit Court. He faces up to a year in jail at sentencing Jan. 7.
The July 2011 crash killed 20-year-old Jasmine Owens of Upper Marlboro. According to a statement of facts, Owens' car had hit a guardrail on Route 50 and was left disabled in the right lane.
The Capital of Annapolis ( http://bit.ly/S4rS2k) reports that Owens got out of her car to inspect the damage and was hit by a truck driven by Garcia-Salmoran. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Garcia-Salmoran was found to have a 0.13 blood alcohol content.
