CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Organizers say an auction held to raise money for the University of Virginia's Rotunda renovations was a success.
WVIR-TV ( http://bit.ly/S7m5IG) reports that the online auction is expected to raise between $10,000 and $15,000.
Bidding ended Sunday.
Items on the auction block included vintage wine and antiques. A 12-person dinner with U.Va. President Teresa Sullivan drew a high bid of $925.
Whit Hunter says organizers hope to make the auction a twice yearly event.
The university says the Rotunda needs $51 million worth of renovations. The work will be done in two phases.
