WASHINGTON - Foodies are in for a treat this weekend with both D.C. and Bethesda celebrating all things delicious. If food isn't your thing, check out Jon Stewart, get your pet blessed or drink up German-style.
Taste of D.C. kicks off Saturday on Pennsylvania Avenue NW between 9th and 10th streets with more than 50 participating restaurants and a beer garden featuring more than 30 brews. Learn about sustainable eating at the Farm-to-Fork Zone or play interactive games in the family zone. General admission for Saturday and Sunday is $8.99 online or $10 at the door. Tasting items are available for $1 to $3. Click here or call 202-618-3663 for more information.
It's Montgomery County's big day Saturday with the 23rd annual Taste of Bethesda. The food and music festival will bring together 60 restaurants and five stages of entertainment for a sampling of the region's best treats. Admission is free, but tasting tickets are sold in $5 bundles. Ticket sales end at 3:30 p.m. Click here for a vendor map or call 301-215-6660 for more information.
Beer drinkers should hop in the car for the 17th annual Fort Belvoir Oktoberfest Friday through Sunday. The festival features German food, music and dancing and of course all the beer you can handle. Admission is $25 to $30, and Sunday is military appreciation day for active duty service members and their families. Get full details here. Please remember to drive responsibly.
Put aside the partisan politics and get ready to laugh. Jon Stewart and Bill O'Reilly go head-to-head at the Rumble in the Air-Conditioned Auditorium Saturday at George Washington University's Lisner Auditorium. Most of the tickets for the 90-minute debate are gone, but you can watch a livestream starting at 8 p.m. for $4.95.
One of D.C.'s hottest neighborhoods is celebrating itself this weekend with the sixth annual Columbia Heights Day Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Swing by Harriet Tubman Elementary School on Kenyon Street NW for live music, cupcake eating contest and food truck row. Adults enjoy Oktoberfest specials at Meridian Pint, while kids can frolic on the moon bounce. Check the website for a schedule of events.
