102-mile bicycling event to start in Richmond

HENRICO, Va. (AP) - Roads in the Richmond area will be transformed into a fun ride for hundreds of bicyclists this weekend.

More than 900 bicyclists are set to ride along a 102-mile road course for the first Martin's Tour of Richmond on Saturday.

The ride will start and finish at the Richmond Raceway Complex in Henrico County. The circuit will extend through downtown Richmond and travel through Chesterfield, Powhatan, Goochland, Louisa and Hanover counties as well as Ashland.

Richmond Sports Backers is staging the event. Martin's Food Markets is the primary sponsor.

The event is open to anyone regardless of skill level and also will feature rides of 29 and 59 miles for those who don't want to make the full trip, The Richmond Times-Dispatch) reports.
