FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) - Construction is expected to begin soon on a new, permanent terminal building at the Stafford Regional Airport.
Airport manager Ed Wallis tells The Free Lance-Star that everything is ready for the start of construction, said airport manager Ed Wallis. West Point-based Curtis Contracting Inc. is the general contractor for the 10,000-square-foot facility.
A formal groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 16. Construction is expected to last about 10 months.
The $3.4 million facility will include a passengers' lounge, business center, conference room, flight planning and pilots' area, administrative offices, vending machines and restrooms.
The permanent structure will replace the double-wide trailer that is currently serving as the airport's terminal.
