LYNCHBURG, Va. - Liberty University has won county approval to build an observatory in Rustburg.

The 1,300-square-foot observatory will be located on 23 acres adjacent to Liberty's equestrian center, about 15 minutes from the main campus in Lynchburg. It's designed primarily Liberty students but the public will have limited access free of charge.

The News & Advance ( http://bit.ly/QOfYd4) says the Campbell County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a permit for the observatory's construction Tuesday.

Liberty vice president Lee Beaumont says the project will cost $250,000.
