Special election date set for Va. House seat

RICHMOND, Va. - Gov. Bob McDonnell has set Dec. 18 as a special election to fill the 89th District House of Delegates seat vacated when Kenneth Alexander was elected to the state Senate.
A Democrat, Alexander ran unopposed this month for the Senate seat left vacant by the July death of Sen. Yvonne Miller of Norfolk.
The last day for filing as a candidate for the special election is Oct. 19.
