Remains found in Stafford Co. identified as D.C. woman

WASHINGTON – Katherine Bryant’s family saw her for the last time six years ago. Now investigators have identified skeletal remains found in Stafford, Va., as Bryant’s and say they suspect foul play in her death.

Bryant, of Washington, D.C., was 33 years old when she disappeared in 2006. Using DNA, investigators in the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office identified remains discovered Aug. 16 near the northbound 140 ramp off of Interstate 95 as hers.

Bryant was reported missing by family members in 2006. The investigation into her death continues, and investigators say they hope releasing her photo will jog the public’s memory to generate tips in the case.
