FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (AP) - The University of Mary Washington has broken ground on its new Information and Technology Convergence Center.
The four-story building will feature open, flexible spaces for a variety of technology, information and teaching resources. It will include a digital theater, a data center, media labs, a cafe and collaboration areas. The building is designed with a Georgian-style exterior to blend with others on the Fredericksburg campus.
Board of Visitors Rector said at Thursday's groundbreaking ceremony that the center will serve as the academic commons of the university.
The center is expected to be in full use by fall of 2014.
