ESSEX, Md. - Baltimore County police say an 8th grade student who brought a gun to school pointed the weapon at his teacher, his class and then himself before being restrained.
No one was injured Tuesday morning when the student brought the loaded handgun into Stemmers Run Middle School in Essex.
Police say the teacher was able to wrestle the gun away from the 13-year-old student, whose name has not been released.
On Tuesday afternoon, police served a criminal summons on the boy's grandfather, charging him with to failing secure loaded firearms from children 15 and younger.
The incident comes two weeks after a student at Perry Hall High School shot another boy in the school cafeteria. The victim in that shooting, Daniel Borowy, was released from the hospital Monday.
