CRANKS, Ky. - Police have charged a Virginia man with drunken driving after his truck loaded with coal overturned in a yard in southeastern Kentucky.
Kentucky State Police say the driver couldn't handle a turn on US 421 in Harlan County, went off the right side of the road and the truck rolled over. The Harlan Daily Enterprise reports the driver, Timothy Shepherd of Pennington Gap, Va., was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and reckless driving.
Officers dispatched to the scene found the truck, a 2005 International Eagle tractor-trailer, on its side and its coal load dumped into the yard. Police said the driver was taking the coal to Louisville.
Shepherd was also charged with failure to maintain insurance card.
