WASHINGTON - A late night rendezvous at a Hyattsville bar last weekend left one man in the hospital with stab wounds and sent another man to jail, facing attempted murder charges.
According to court records, Christian Ariel Romero, 20, of Hyattsville, visited the Cococabana Bar and Grill looking for sex. He met the victim, who was dressed as a woman, and after agreeing on a price for a sex act, the pair went to the victim's home in Silver Spring.
The victim then performed a sex act on Romero, at which point Romero realized the victim was a man, Montgomery County police say.
Police say Romero suggested the pair go outside and smoke. He put the 41-year-old victim's cellphone in his pocket and then stabbed him in the neck and back.
The victim is expected to recover, police say.
Romero went back to the victim's home later that day to apologize. He admitted to stabbing the victim after realizing that the victim was a man posing as a woman,
Police were called to the home about 6:15 a.m. Sunday and Romero admitted he stabbed the victim to detectives, police say.
Romero is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center in lieu of $500,000 bail. He faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and theft under $1,000.
