DANVILLE, Va. (AP) - A construction site in Pittsylvania County where workers found human remains has been turned over to the state archaeologist.
Dominion Power spokesman Dan Genest says the workers were digging an exploratory trench at the Pittsylvania Power Station in Hurt when they unearthed the remains last week.
Genest tells the Danville Register & Bee ( http://bit.ly/QNRuR5) that arrowheads and shards of pottery also were found.
Investigators determined that the remains could be those of a Native American.
The workers were preparing to lay a fiber optic cable parallel to a water line. Genest says work on the project has been halted and the area has been secured to protect the remains.
