White House releases official beer recipes

WASHINGTON – After weeks of anticipation, the proverbial cat is finally out of the bag. President Obama’s White House beer recipe is now available online.

“As far as we know the White House Honey Brown Ale is the first alcohol brewed or distilled on the White House grounds,” says White House Assistant Chef Sam Kass in a statement. “George Washington brewed beer and distilled whiskey at Mount Vernon and Thomas Jefferson made wine but there’s no evidence that any beer has been brewed in the White House.”

The recipe calls for 7 pounds of malt extract, 20 ounces of malt, 1 pound of honey from the White House grounds. Don’t forget the hops, gypsum, yeast and corn sugar.

It takes about five or six weeks from start to finish.
