WASHINGTON - What's the secret to a positive work experience? Successful people say it's all in the first hour.
Fastcompany.com took some advice from successful people like Craig Newmark of Craigslist, Tumblr's David Karp and motivational speaker Tony Robins on how they start their days.
- Step away from the email: Most jobs don't require on-call email
availability, so FastCompany.com advises not to check email for the first hour.
Tumblr founder David Karp goes further to say that checking email at home isn't
productive and doesn't feel good. "If something urgently needs my attention,
someone will call or text me," Karp says.
- Recognize your good fortune: Tony Robbins says it's important to
remember what you're grateful for. Take an hour, 30 minutes or even fifteen
minutes to reflect on positive aspects of family, friends and career life.
- Do the worst first: If a daunting tasks tends to haunt you at work, get it over with in the beginning.
