WASHINGTON – The wife of a man who was robbed and badly beaten on Capitol Hill earlier this month issued an urgent plea on Tuesday, asking for the public’s help.

On Aug. 18, Thomas Maslin, 29, was found on a doorstep in the 700 block of North Carolina Avenue SE, a short distance from where he lives with his wife, Abby, and their 2-year-old son, Jack.

Abby Maslin is asking people to watch a surveillance tape from a nearby Exxon station where her husband’s credit card was used by three men after the attack.

“Please watch this video, show it to everybody they know, and see if anybody can be recognized from this video,” she says.

The video also has a clear image of the car which Abby Maslin hopes someone might recognize.

“There’s a shot of the car, and that might be the clearest photo that’s available at the moment.”

Thomas Maslin’s credit card and cellphone were stolen in the robbery. He was on his way home from a Nationals game when he was attacked, and he may have stumbled from door to door in the neighborhood looking for help before he finally collapsed.

Speaking at a news conference at MedStar Hospital Center where her husband is being treated, Abby Maslin says her husband has had three operations, including two on his brain. He is responding to treatment but he still cannot talk.

D.C. police say anyone with information on the car or the people in the video should call (202) 727-9099 or text 50411.

There is a $1,000 reward for anyone providing information that leads to an arrest and conviction.
