Out-of-state officers, rolling roadblocks expected for funeral

WTOP's Kristi King reports

BELTSVILLE, Md. - Thousands of mourners are expected to gather at a funeral service for a Prince George's County police officer killed in a highway chase, and traffic delays could be likely.

A funeral service for Officer Adrian A. Morris will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Woodstream Church on Lottsford Road in Mitchellville. A burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Lakemont Memorial Gardens on W. Central Avenue in Davidsonville.

The funeral procession will begin with a motorcade from the funeral home in Beltsville to a nearby police station, and will then continue to the church. After the funeral, the motorcade will head to the cemetery.

Morris, 23, of Laurel, Md., was killed Aug. 20 when his police cruiser ran off Interstate 95 while pursuing a vehicle that matched the description of a car involved in a theft.
