NASA mission gives a peek of rover's Mars
journey
NASA's latest adventure to Mars has given the world more than just glimpses of a
new alien landscape. It opened a window into the trip itself, from video footage
of the landing to a photo of the rover hanging by a parachute to a shot of
discarded spacecraft hardware strewn across the surface. And the best views _ of
Mars and the journey there _ are yet to come.

Artist Kusama sees the world in dots
Polka dots are Japanese avant-garde artist Yayoi Kusama's lifelong inspiration,
obsession and passion. And so they're everywhere - not only on canvases but on
installations shaped like gnarled tentacles and oversized yellow pumpkins. As part
of her retrospective on exhibit at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York,
they also sparkle as "firefly" light bulbs reflected on water and mirrors.

Man accused of kidnapping, assaulting girl in
Pr. George's
A 25-year-old man has been charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 6-
year-old girl in Prince George's County, and police believe it's not the first
time he's committed such crimes.

McDonnell calls new drunken driving law 'tough
love'
A new law in Virginia will require ignition locks for all convicted drunken
drivers, even first-time offenders. Gov. Bob McDonnell says the law, which took
effect last month, is "tough love."
