Hospitals cancel Batman visits

WASHINGTON – The man dubbed the “Route 29 Batman” won’t be entertaining as many hospitalized children now that some hospitals have asked him to stay away.

Baltimore County businessman Lenny Robinson has been touring the U.S. in a custom- made Batmobile visiting sick children as Batman.

But since the Colorado massacre, he says hospitals in St. Louis and Chicago have asked him not to come because they are worried the children will get scared.

“On a personal note, I was disappointed. However, it’s not about me and it’s not about Batman,” Robinson tells ABC 7.

He says it’s about the children in the hospitals who are fighting for their lives.

Robinson says he wants to do things that are helpful and good.

“If my appearance would be the opposite then I’m not doing what my mission is all about.”
