Female jogger sexually assaulted in Arlington

WASHINGTON – A female Arlington resident was sexually assaulted at knifepoint Tuesday night and police are looking for a suspect.

The woman, 23, was jogging near mile marker 44 on the Four Mile Run bike trail shortly before 8 p.m. when she was confronted by a Hispanic man she had passed earlier on the trail.

The man showed the woman a knife and dragged her off the trail into taller vegetation where he assaulted her.

After the assault, the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction and the victim ran home to drive herself to Virginia Hospital Center.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, between 5-feet-five-inches and 6-feet tall and 140 pounds.

The victim tells police the man had a small head and a very high pitched voice and spoke very limited English.

He had short black hair, brown eyes and no facial hair. The victim says the suspect was wearing a green T-shirt with the word “George” across the front, and believes it was George Mason University lettering.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect should call Detective Greg Sloan at 703-228-4198 or gsloan@arlingtonva.us.
