Puppy crushed with cement block in D.C.

WASHINGTON – A puppy was killed when a cement block was dropped on his head in D.C., and now the Washington Humane Society is offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest.

Neighbors say they saw a light-skinned African American man with a medium build, in his late 20s drop the block on the sleeping 6-month-old dog, named “King Tut.” It happened at 9 a.m. on Friday, June 29 behind the Circle Seven Express store in the 1200 block of Mount Olivet Road in Northeast.

The Humane Society is offering a $2,500 reward, and asks those with information to contact Officer D’Eramo at 202-723-5730 extension 131, or email him at dderamo@washumane.org.

“This is truly one of the most horrific acts of animal cruelty I have seen in my 20-year career. No animal deserves to suffer such a painful and unspeakable death,” says Scott Giacoppo, vice president of the society.
