Boil water advisory lifted in Falls Church

WASHINGTON -The Falls Church Water Utility has lifted a boil water advisory for portions of Tysons Corner, Vienna and Dunn Loring.

The city says customers no longer need to boil or treat tap water for drinking or cooking.

The Virginia Department of Health conducted two rounds of testing for bacteria, and the tests came back negative for anything harmful.

When the massive power outage occurred Friday, the water authority urged people not to drink the tap water before boiling it.

The original advisory included Merrifield.

The boil water advisory was issued because of a a drop in water pressure in the Tysons and Vienna area of the Falls Church City water system on Saturday afternoon. Back-up generators restored water pressure to the system.
