LANDOVER, Md. - Rescue crews continue to search for a worker who is missing after a massive warehouse roof collapsed in Landover.
Prince George's County fire officials say rescuers searched through the night for the missing worker but didn't find the man.
Fire department spokesman Mark Brady says rescuers paused the search Friday because the building continues to crumble. Early Friday, a K-9 unit was used in the search.
The fire department called in structural engineers to help stabilize the building.
Employees at Recall, a document management company on Cabin Branch Drive told firefighters a forklift accidentally struck a storage rack that toppled and created a domino effect Thursday night. The falling shelves struck support beams, then the roof collapsed and walls buckled.
"We're hoping for the best here, but again, we don't know. We know there's no sounds inside the building other than the walls. We don't hear any cries for help or anything of that nature so, we're hoping for the best," Prince George's County Fire and EMS spokesman Mark Brady told WTOP Thursday night.
Firefighters evacuated about 25 people from the building at the time of the collapse.
