UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) - The Prince George's County school board is beginning its search for a new superintendent as the school system contends with a void in leadership following Superintendent William Hite's departure.
A consulting company hired to identify and screen candidates has met with community stakeholders to discuss the type of superintendent they want.
The Washington Post ( http://wapo.st/Qz5cts) reports the company is set to present its findings to the board Dec. 13 at a public meeting. A list of candidates is to be announced and interviewed in the spring. Then the board is expected to name a new schools chief by July.
Since Hite's departure, the chief personnel, legal and financial officers also left.
The school board hired Alvin Crawley, a D.C. Public Schools official, as interim chief, along with other interim leaders.
