MIDLOTHIAN, Va. - Virginia State Police and the families of fallen troopers will gather in suburban Richmond to remember those who died in the line of duty.
The memorial scheduled Friday will pay special recognition to Trooper Adam M. Bowen. He died in June 2011 while responding to a call to assist with a criminal investigation in King George County.
During the ceremony, Bowen's official department portrait will be unveiled. It will hang in the memorial gallery in the state police academy.
The ceremony will also pay homage to seven troopers who died while protecting the public. One death dates back 70 years.
