WASHINGTON - A man has been sentenced to 43 years in prison for the kidnapping a sexual assault of a woman in Northeast Washington in 2003.
Forty-eight-year-old Shepardson Blair of Washington was sentenced Friday. He was convicted of sexual abuse, kidnapping and other offenses in May.
According to evidence presented at trial, the victim was walking home from Union Station about 10 p.m. on July 14, 2003 when a man grabbed her and choked her.
The man dragged the woman into bushes, slammed her face into the ground and sexually assaulted her.
The case was cold until 2010, when a DNA match linked Blair to the crime.
