McLEAN, Va. - Overnight drivers heading east from Dulles International Airport this week on the airport's access highway will be detoured onto the Dulles Toll Road.
Closures of the eastbound access highway, which runs parallel to the toll road between the airport and the Capital Beltway, will be in effect this week through Friday beginning at 9 p.m.
Usually drivers on the access highway can avoid the tolls charged on the toll road. But these construction detours mean that those drivers who usually can avoid the tolls will have to pay them.
The closures are part of the multi-billion dollar project to build Metrorail's new Silver Line which will extend out to Reston.
The detours will be lifted at 5 a.m. on Tuesday through Friday and 7 a.m. on Saturday.
