Tuesday - 4/24/2012, 12:02pm  ET

NORFOLK, Va. - Four would-be robbers in Norfolk picked the wrong victims.

Norfolk police say the suspects tried to rob two plain-clothes officers who were sitting in separate unmarked vehicles at a fast-food restaurant.

Police spokesman Officer Chris Amos tells media outlets that one suspect approached the driver's side of one officer's vehicle. Another suspect approached the passenger side of the other officer's vehicle. Both suspects carried handguns.

Amos says both officers drew their guns and shot at the men. The suspects fled on foot.

Police believe the other men were in a nearby vehicle.

Amos says three suspects were found about an hour later. The other man was found at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to the arm.
