DISPUTANTA, Va. - The medical examiner says an off-duty Prince George County police officer who was pulled from a swimming pool at her home died as the result of a drowning.
Virginia State Police Sgt. Thomas Molnar released the medical examiner's findings on Friday, the same day a funeral was held for 46-year-old Shelly Crowder.
Authorities say Crowder's husband called 911 Monday night and was performing CPR on her near a pool at the couple's residence when emergency workers arrived. She was taken to a local hospital, where she later died.
Molnar says there was about 6 feet of water in the pool.
